“Here is love, affection, beauty, charm, ecstasy and eternity. That Divine Name is pushing your door: open your door and receive that Divine Name in your heart.”
— Swami B.S. Govinda
Our community seeks to share the inspiration and teachings from the heart of Swami B.S. Govinda, who travelled the world during the 1990s and early 2000s spreading the teachings of divine love and the practice of kirtan as imparted by his beloved Guru, Swami B.R. Sridhar.
Swami B.R. Sridhar (also known as Srila Sridhar Maharaj) was a great saint and scholar of the ancient Vaishnava tradition of India who founded the mission Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math in Nabadwip Dham, West Bengal, in 1942. Srila Sridhar Maharaj established his dearmost disciple Swami B.S. Govinda (also known as Srila Govinda Maharaj) as his successor in 1986, having trained him for this role for nearly fifty years.
Srila Govinda Maharaj emphasized the values of humility, tolerance, and honor for all, and expressed an unparalleled mood of unconditional love, compassion, and affection to all whom he met. Inspired by Srila Govinda Maharaj’s message and potent spiritual presence, communities and centers across the world began to spring up organically under his guidance.
Srila Govinda Maharaj left the world in 2010, having touched countless souls with his divine teachings and example, and his legacy continues today through his books, his talks, and his devoted followers.
